According to statistics from China Construction Machinery Association, since April this year, domestic excavator sales have declined month by month, and the latest September data has dropped by 38.3% year-on-year. On the contrary, the export volume of excavators in my country has soared. In the first half of this year, my country exported a total of 30,133 excavators, a year-on-year increase of 107%; among them, exports in April increased by 166.3% year-on-year.

Zhang Jinjin, Marketing Director of Sunward Intelligent International Marketing Division, believes that the overseas epidemic suppressed the demand for foreign excavators last year, and the domestic excavator market has become saturated, and the overseas excavator market will maintain its growth momentum in the next two to three years. Sunward’s optical excavators accounted for 25% of sales in the first half of this year.

Similarly, Xiang Wenbo, president of Sany Heavy Industry, also believes that overseas markets will recover strongly and usher in new development opportunities. In the first half of this year, SANY’s overseas market sales exceeded 10 billion yuan, an increase of 100% year-on-year; the overseas sales of Liugong’s construction machinery products increased by more than 80%, of which the sales of excavators in Africa doubled.


A few days ago, XCMG’s small and mini excavators performed outstandingly at the Global Micro Excavation Conference and were unanimously recognized by on-site customers. Unlike the big and bulky excavator stereotypes, small and mini excavators are more popular overseas. Sunward Intelligent Zhang Jinjin said that at present, overseas orders are rising too fast, production capacity is very tight, and overseas production lines are being expanded.
